Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse, so read them!

Unsportsmanlike conduct, as assessed at the sole discretion of league administrators, will be punished severely and may lead to lengthy bans and/or permanent expulsion from the league. Just don't talk if you can't talk constructively.

League Overview
The Uniball Olympics is a new type of league, which attempts to offer some fresh diversity, while bringing back some of oldschool Uniball's intense competition. Uniball's top players will be drafted and traded throughout an intense 4 week competition, where players will have to show that they are the best overall by competing on a new map each week.

GENERAL
- Players must play on the same name that is registered on the UBO site (or some minor variation e.g. Drakling -> Drak) AND this registered name must be the one that they have always used for UB. Players that recently changed their name must disclose their previous name on the UBO forums.

- Any player that violates this smurfing rule and signs up on an unknown or second name will be banned from future seasons, and any GM that knowingly drafted them onto their team will be penalized.

- Players that are not initially drafted at the start of the season will be assigned to the Free Agent Pool (FAP) and may have an opportunity to be drafted by a team at any point throughout the season.

- Signups will close once the draft has been run and will remain closed until the end of the season.

- Once you are assigned to a team, you CANNOT refuse to play for that team because you don't like that team or its players. Any player that shows this behaviour will be banned for 1 season and possibly more.

- Each day of the season begins at 3AM EST

SEASONAL PLAY AND MAP SELECTION

Any game that involves a player who plays for a team after they have been stolen or dumped, will be void.
Check your team before playing a game.

- All games must be to 10 points, but can be made for 3 - 6 players per team if teams so choose.

- At the start of each week a new map will be assigned for that week's games. All teams MUST play on that week's map, which is shown in the season calendar on the top right of the site.

- Teams are encouraged to play on both NA and UK servers, and teams must play at least 1 game on each server per day, or they will face a 15 point deduction for each server unplayed.

- At the end of each game, 1 person from each team must immediately report the game outcome and statistics.
If you're unsure of the game stats, you can double check the game logs in your Uniball directory, which is located at:
Program Files -> Uniball -> gamelogs or you can also ask a teammate in BR.

The maps for this season are:

      Week 1: Hockey
      Week 2: Miniball
      Week 3: Shades
      Week 4: Hockey

SEASON STRUCTURE
- Teams will be ranked by chess score for daily games and at the end of each week, the top 4 teams will be awarded points on the Points Board (PB) based on their standing for that week (a tie goes to the team with the higher Win %).

- The season winner is the team that has the most points on the Points Board at the end of the season, again with a tie going to the team with the higher Win %.

- There will be no championship games due to the scheduling conflicts that UB leagues often encounter.

- As an added incentive for teams to play more games and worry (a little!) less about losing, teams that lose a game will only lose 80% of the points that the winning team receives.

The points for the PB are awarded for the following ranks:

IN-GAME MECHANICS

LAGOUT GOALS
- If a goal is scored on a breakaway while a player has lagged out, the goal is valid, however play must be paused after the goal until the player has rejoined or a sub is available, and the ball must then be respawned.

PAUSES
- Teams may pause or request a pause ONLY when they have possession of the ball and play must stop immediately upon a request for a pause. Hosts must not pause the game without their team having possession of the ball.

- Before resuming play, the host must ensure that all players are ready to play before resuming

- Game stops/pauses may be made for no longer than 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, if the player is still unable to play, and no sub is available, the game must continue shorthanded, although a sub may join with the applicable rules below.

SUBBING
- Subbing can be made at any time during the game, however, to prevent teams from playing only their top lineups, there may be a penalty for some subs. For every 2 Skill Points that an incoming sub has above an outgoing player, the subbing team must forfeit 1 goal, up to a maximum of 3 goals (e.g. an outgoing player with Skill 10 would not be penalized for a sub of Skill 11, but would be penalized 1 goal for Skill 12-3, 2 goals for Skill 14-5, and 3 goals for Skill 16+.

- Teams that must sub under this condition but which do not have 3 goals left must be scored upon up until they have 9 goals.

- At the time of the sub, play must stop and these goals must be scored immediately, followed by a ball respawn after these goals are scored. These goals cannot be 'refunded' if a new sub becomes available afterwards, although the old player may rejoin with no additional subbing penalty.

- You can check a player's skill by looking up their name in the Player Stats section of the site. If teams fail to implement the subbing penalty at the time of the sub (before ANY further play), the subbing team will not be penalized.

Please make an effort to accommodate your opposing team without relying strictly on the rules!
The league is supposed to be fun, and will be less fun for everyone if you take it too seriously.

GMS AND TRADING

GM SELECTION AND TEAM DRAFTING
- Players can apply to be a GM when they signup or in their user preferences page. GMs will be assigned at the start of the season based on a criteria of activity, skill, and good attitude, and can play games like any other player. Don't apply to be a GM if you have limited time and cannot check the UBO site daily, or if you often criticize your teammates!

- As soon as a GM is selected, they will be given site access and will be able to choose draft picks for their ideal UB team. This must be done before the draft or that GMs team will be randomly selected during the draft.

- All teams must have a minimum of 8 players + 1 GM (there is no team maximum) at the start of the day during the regular season or they will be drafted players from the FAP based on the GM's draft picks from the season start. If a team player is stolen when you have only 8 players, you will need to replace them through steals or FAP signing before the following day in order to avoid this. During the preseason there is no team minimum.

TRADING AND SEASON SCHEDULE
- GMs will be given a cash budget for their team at the season start, and GMs will set player salaries before trading begins. Player salaries may not be lowered and may only be raised through trading, so GMs should reserve some of their budget to help them defend steals from other GMs during the regular season.

- GMs will be able to change their team in 3 ways: stealing players at a higher salary, dumping players to (immediately) free up their salary, and FAP signing. During the preseason there is no quantity limit for these activities. During the regular season GMs will be given Trade Credits (TCs) and each player steal or dump will cost 1 TC. FAP signing costs no TCs.

After the draft is completed, the trading schedule will be as follows:

PRESEASON TRADING
- An unlimited amount of steals and FAP signs can be made in days 3 - 7.

- During the salary adjustment phase, GMs are advised to set player salaries to their 'market value' otherwise players can be stolen without a chance to defend the steal for days 3 - 5.

- During days 3 - 5 of the preseason, any bid (all bids must be 1.5 x oldsalary for both pre/regular season) will result in an IMMEDIATE steal, and stolen players will instantly join their new team.

- For days 6 - 7 of the preseason, GMs will have 24 hours to counter a steal by offering a new salary that is higher than the bid and SUCCESSFUL steals (e.g. 24 hours runs up or the other GM allows the steal) will instantly join their new team.

- If an opposing GM attempts to steal one of your players, and you are able, you must immediately Allow or Outbid the steal. You must NOT ignore the steal to let the timer count down, or make an outgoing steal while you have a pending steal.

SEASONAL TRADING
- 3 TCs total will be given to last through weeks 3 and 4.

- During this period, stealing and dumping cost 1 TC, FAP signing costs no TCs.

- GMs have 24 hours to counter a steal, and successful steals will immediately join their new team.

- When 24 hour stealing is in effect, a steal must be COMPLETED during the season's stealing phase. Any steal that extends into a non-stealing phase (e.g. Day 8 - 14 or Day 29 - 35) will be void.

NON-STEAL TIMING
- Dumped players will leave their team immediately.

- Players that are dumped from a team may not be resigned by that team at any time.

- FAP Signs will join their new team immediately.

- Whenever a player is dumped from their team, they must sit in the FAP for 1 full day before joining a new team.
During this time GMs can bid for these AUCTION players, and the highest bid made wins at the start of the following day (example: if you bid $10M and another GM bids $7M, you win and sign the player at $10M).

SALARY INFORMATION
- GM's salary budget will be announced at the start of the season.

- Dumping a player will immediately free up 100% of their previous salary.

- Money for stealing bids will be deducted from the GM's salary budget. If unsuccessful the money will be added back.

- When making an auction, GMs must ensure that they are able to afford the player if they win.
